At the RCS in one of our lectures, we were given a lecture by someone from a new online teaching resource, eStaccato. He explained to us about all the benefits of using eStaccato and how it was designed to improve it from both a teacher and learner perspective by enabling teachers to teach worldwide and students to learn from any teacher. You may be asking yourself, why not just use Skype like others? Well, here I have your answer.
eStaccato has three different teaching modes available through its system; Teaching, Playthrough and Chat (mono only). Teaching mode allows both the student and teacher to hear each other clearly, through the use of headphones to avoid any echo issues. Playthrough mode focuses all the quality of the stream to the student, this does mean that the student can't see of hear the teacher but is focused on the student to benefit the teaching. Chat mode is pretty self-explanatory. The system also has the function of booking lessons with the teacher through an availability calendar. This also helps from a teaching perspective as it helps the teacher manage his/her time effectively in the one place. The details of the teacher/student can be found on their profiles, meaning this can be easier for sending music scores before the lesson to increase the time spent on actual learning. All that is required is a stable internet connection, Google Chrome, internal/external microphone and a webcam.
In terms of payment, eStaccato only accepts Euro at this point. I do apologise that this is the case and the prices are adjusted to account for the exchange rate at the time. If anyone has any questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to contact me. The team at eStaccato have indicated that they are working on adding other forms of payment (e.g. GBP) in the near future.
I use eStaccato because it's easy to use, the support network is great and you can reach people worldwide!
